MALCOLM, THE FIRST CAT IN HISTORY TO ENTER POLITICS AND RAISE MONEY FOR THE HUMAN ORPHANS OF NAGALIM. Washington, DC – The Naga-American Council, a non-partisan non-profit organization dedicated to freeing Nagalim from its oppressors is rolling out a novel multi-track strategic campaign using a Cat as a politician. "The Malcolm Project" was conceived when a delegation from Nagalim came to the US to testify in congress about their political conflict with India last October. After looking around the city, one thing they noticed and kept commenting on was the extravagant clothing, toys, furniture and foods we have for our pets. One member of their government said, "Americans spend more on their pets then we could ever on our children. We have an orphanage called the Gilgal School that houses approximately 70 children. What you spend on one pet in a year could feed all our children for at least six months. I wish Americans would consider donating their money to help our orphanage." With that being said, pet owner Grace Collins, also the Honorary Ambassador of Nagalim suggested her cat; Malcolm could help raise money for Naga orphans. "Malcolm is an Exotic Short-haired Blue cat and has such a lovable charismatic personality that he is a perfect diplomatic mascot to encourage peaceful resolution to the Naga plight. Malcolm's genealogy is "bluer" then the King of England! He is not just another pretty face… he should do more than just the cat show circuit, he is of the ' noblesse oblige' ...I think it says a lot about how blessed America is, we've gone full circle, only in truly free society can an animal of means help raise awareness and money for poor humans". Tim Murphy, owner of the cattery, www.snugharborkats.com bred Malcolm and said, "He has an impeccable pedigree and comes from five generations of Grand Champions". Murphy, a national judge and a member of the Board of Directors of the American Cat Fanciers Association (AFCA) said, “You know Malcolm's brother won the coveted title of 2007 Kitten of the Year by the AFCA. He certainly has a lot to live up to!" Collins also explained that she noticed at a very young age Malcolm's love for clothes and being photographed but was reticent to participate in traditional cat shows. Given his love of clothes, it was natural for Malcolm to come out with a "unipet" and unisex clothing line with inspired slogans spreading peace for Nagalim geared towards the D.I.W.P. - Dual Income with Pets generation and singles population S.I.W.P. According to the cover of Business Week magazine, August 6, 2007, the pet industry is amounts to over 40 billion dollars, is expected to grow to 52 billion with in the next two year, and is the largest and fastest growing retail sector in the US. The Naga - American Council recognizes this and is creating products pet owners would buy as a means to help fundraise for the Nagas. We believe that people who have pets in general are kinder and are abused and in need. Animator and the logo designer of The Malcolm Project, John-Marc Grob of JMG Studios will create comic strips for inclusion in newspapers and websites. Malcolm will also be the star of his own reality show on www.youtube.com . The soap opera series documents his political "Paws for Peace of Nagalim" campaign and sub story profiles his personal love life. In one episode Malcolm rescues a little red headed Exotic affectionately known as Little Orphan Annie at the local humane shelter when he uses his socialite status to raise funds for orphaned animals. And in another show their engagement is announced with plans for a lavish pet wedding on June 14. The couple will request that all gifts to be donated to the orphanage in Nagalim and to the local humane shelter where they first met. Please come meet the real Malcolm cat and sign his petition at the 7 th Annual World of Pets Expo, www.worldofpets.org on January 25-27, 2008, at the Maryland State Fairgrounds, 2200 York Road, Timonium, MD ( next to the petting zoo-booth 303).
